Lesson 1
Importance of Knowledge
Growing in your faith is one of the most importance things you can do. Your growth is a personal journey that involves deepening your understanding of your spiritual beliefs, connecting with a community of believers such as your church family, and living out your faith in practical ways.
There are many ways to help your faith grow. Developing a consistent and meaningful prayer life is one way. Prayer is a way to communicate God, express gratitude, seek guidance, and build a deeper spiritual relationship with Him. Connecting with your church family as often as you can is another way to grow your faith. Being with your church family can provide support, fellowship, and opportunities to share in worship and service which are very encouraging. And then there is the studying of God’s word, which is what we are going to focus on in this study. We will focus on building faith through gaining more knowledge of God’s will.
What if you don’t grow? Well, not growing in your faith can be very dangerous. Specifically, when you lack the necessary knowledge about God’s will for your life, you become weak and vulnerable to unfaithfulness and doubt.
All About Knowledge
One thing knowledge does is give you awareness. Being aware is not just important following God but it’s important in everyday life. If you don’t have the proper knowledge of the speed limit, you can get a ticket. If you don’t have the proper knowledge of what expired food, you could drink spoiled milk.
In the same sense, if you are not aware of God’s word, you could live a life that is not pleasing to Him. Not having the proper knowledge of what God desires for honesty, can lead you to be dishonest with people you love and cause hurt. Not having the proper of knowledge of what God desires marriage, could lead you to follow some human standard that conflicts with God. So, knowledge produces awareness and awareness is the cross road where you choose to obey or disobey God.
Notice what happens when people lack knowledge of God’s will.
